    • Candace Thomas-Maddox has been appointed interim Associate Dean at Ohio University-Lancaster for the coming academic year. She has also published two books in the past year.[June 2008]
    • Candace Thomas-Maddox has been promoted to Professor of Communication Studies at Ohio University-Lancaster. [May 2008]
    • Jim Aman, OCA's web administrator, has been elected President of the Faculty Senate at Saint Xavier University. He will be President-Elect in 2008-09 and President 2009-11. [May 2008]
    • Sheida Shirvani and Jim Aman have had two related peer-reviewed papers published this fall. “Maintaining Lecture Content in a Blended Course” appeared in Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges in October. “Evolving from Traditional to Hybrid: Placing Presentations into Context for Students” appears in Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges in December. Both articles deal with the instructional uses of tablet PC's in different disciplines but focus on different aspects of the technology. Co-author Brent Wilson (George Fox University) and Aman (Saint Xavier University) presented the papers at the Northwest and Midwest regional conferences of the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges.     • Candace Thomas-Maddox has recently been elected Academic Division Coordinator at Ohio University-Lancaster. She previously served as coordinator of Communication Studies programs for the Ohio University regional campuses. [September 2007]
    • Sheida Shirvani has been honored as Ohio University Regional Professor of the Year. This award extends through 2009. She was recognized officially at the Ohio University-Zanesville faculty dinner opening the academic year. [August 2007]

    • Heidi Arnold has recently been hired as a tenure track faculty at Sinclair Community College. She began teaching at Sinclair last fall and was elected as OCA’s Southwest Representative. Even though she will miss Jeff Tyus (as he leaves for YSU), she is eager to jump into his shoes and attempt to fill them! Welcome, Assistant Professor Heidi Arnold. [June 2007]

    • Matthew J. Smith, Associate Professor of Communication at Wittenberg University, has been awarded a year-long sabbatical for 2007-2008 to develop a manuscript with Randy Duncan of Henderson State University (Arkansas) for "The Power of Comics: An Introduction to Graphic Storytelling." The book will be published by Continuum International Publishing. [June 2007]
    • Adam Earnheardt successfully defended his dissertation "Exploring possible predictors of television viewer judgments of athlete behaviors" at Kent State University in March, 2007.  Earnheardt is an assistant professor in the department of communication at Youngstown State University. [June 2007]
    • Jeff Tyus was appointed assistant professor of communication in the department of communication at Youngstown State University.  Tyus will begin at YSU in the fall. [June 2007]
    • Richard D. Hendrickson, Ph.D., of the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts at John Carroll University, Cleveland, has been granted a letter of tenure and promotion to associate professor, effective with the start of the fall 2007 semester. Hendrickson, who has 40 years' experience in print journalism and an earned doctorate from Bowling Green State University, teaches journalism, Communication and the First Amendment, investigative reporting, literary journalism, international journalism, political journalism and editing and design courses at JCU. He has been 2006-07 president of the Cleveland professional chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, Ohio SPJ "sunshine" co-chair and newsletter editor for the Ohio Communication Association. [June 2007]
