
The Ohio Communication Journal is currently seeking applications for the position of Associate Editor starting in July 2025. The Associate Editor will serve in this role for two years and then transition to the Editor role for a subsequent two-year term.
The Ohio Communication Journal (OCJ) features cutting-edge scholarship, ranging in methodological and theoretical approach, focused on a broad array of communication contexts and contemporary societal issues. We publish one volume per year and begin accepting manuscripts for each volume over the summer, with a submission deadline in early fall. We accept full-length research reports (typically 5,000-7,500 words) and intermittently feature short essays (>2,500 words) focusing on relevant disciplinary issues.
The Associate Editor is responsible for coordinating the blind peer review process for submitted manuscripts, assisting in recruiting qualified reviewers, contributing to editorial decisions, developing topics for short essay forums, promoting the journal at conferences, and participating in Ohio Communication Association (OCA) Executive Board meetings and the OCA Business meeting.
To be considered for the Associate Editor position you must meet the following qualifications:
- A current member of the Ohio Communication Association
- Have a PhD in Communication or a related field
- Have experience with publishing in Communication journals
