From exciting new program offerings at the graduate level to incredible initiatives at the undergraduate level, these are exciting times for the University of Dayton’s Department of Communication.

Since 2017, the department’s Masters of Arts program has offered two graduate certificates – one in Strategic Public Relations and one in Health Communication. Starting in the fall 2020 semester, the certificates will now be offered solely online! These 12-credit hour certificates, which can be taken independently of the full Master’s degree, are perfect for working professionals who need to take courses on their own schedule. For more information about the certificates, contact the department’s graduate program director Dr. Alan Abitbol at aabitbol1@udayton.edu.

The University of Dayton is also home to the award-winning Flyer News. The student-run newspaper was named ”Best University Student Publication” by the Catholic Press Association. Additionally, three Flyer News student staffers received individual awards for excellence in sports writing, page design and photography. Read about all of Flyer News’ accolades here.

University of DaytonSomething that stands UD’s department of communication apart from other programs is the department-led study abroad program that provides students opportunities to travel to locations across the globe. This upcoming summer, students will travel to Australia where, as part of the curriculum, they will take part in a 20-hour internship with local organizations in Sidney. Last year, students visited Prague, Czech Republic where they worked with Emmy-nominated director and UD alum Jonathan Judge to create the short film, Charlie’s Bridge.
